The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, point out which servers handle the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a given hosting provider for your domain address is the simplest way to direct it to their system and all its sub-records will be taken care of on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so on, if you wish to edit some of these records, you are going to be able to do it through their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain address reveal the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you attempt to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to obtain the DNS records of the Internet domain you are trying to reach. That way the website that you'll see will be retrieved from the right location. The name servers typically have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each domain name has at least two NS records. There's no sensible difference between the two prefixes, so what kind a host company is going to use depends entirely on their preference.

NS Records in Shared Website Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia CP, which comes with our shared website hosting plans, will allow you to manage the name servers of each and every domain name registered through us with just a few mouse clicks, so even though you may haven't had a web hosting plan or a domain name before, you'll not encounter any problems. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, comes with a very user-friendly interface and it'll enable you to edit the NS records of any domain name or even a number of domains all at once. In addition we give you the opportunity to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for each domain registered in the account just as easily and all you need for that is a couple of IPs - either ours, if you'll use the child NS to forward the domain to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you will use the new records to point the domain to their system. Different from other providers, we do not charge more for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you register a new domain name inside a semi-dedicated server account or transfer an existing one from another registrar provider, you'll be able to update its NS records as required without any difficulties even if you have never had a domain of your own before. The process takes a few clicks in Hepsia - the user-friendly control tool, which comes with our semi-dedicated plans. If you have a number of domains within the account, you'll be able to update all of them at the same time, which will save you quite a lot of time and clicks. Also you can see with ease the name servers that a domain uses and if they're the correct ones or not as a way for the domain address to be forwarded to the account that you have got on our sophisticated cloud hosting platform. Hepsia will even allow you to create private name servers under any domain registered inside the account and use them not only for that domain address, but also for any other one that you want to direct to our cloud platform.
