If you wish to transfer a domain from one registrar company to another, you will need to pass through a couple of security procedures. One of them is obtaining a special EPP authorization code from the current registrar company – as long as you are the domain registrant, since the code is emailed to the owner's email account and no one else can see it. You’ll need to give this code to the new domain name registrar, or else they will not be able to initiate the transfer. The EPP authentication codes are case-sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters such as dots or commas, which can be easily mistyped, so make sure you copy/paste the right code. As an extra safety measure, the transfer code for a domain name may be changed on a regular basis. Some domain registrars call this code a domain secret, an Auth key or a domain password as well.
